Skolotāja vadīti angļu valodas profesionāliem mērķiem uzdevumi 12. klases skolēnu nākotnes profesijas vārdu krājuma pilnveidei

Abstract

Diplomdarba autore ir izpētījusi, kā skolotāja vadīti angļu valodas profesionāliem mērķiem (ESP) uzdevumi var palīdzēt 12. klases skolēniem pilnveidot viņu karjerai nepieciešamo vārdu krājumu. Vārdu krājuma nozīmība mācoties angļu valodu ir izpētīta un ESP mācīšanas metodes ir analizētas un adaptētas veiksmīgai ieviešanai 12.klasē. Lai atbildētu uz pētījuma jautājumiem, seši 12.klases brīvprātīgie skolēni piedalījās gadījuma pētījumā par specifiskās karjeras vārdu krājuma bagātināšanu, izmantojot skolotāja vadītus angļu valodas profesionāliem mērķiem (ESP) uzdevumus. Intgerētā pieeja tika izmantota uzdevumu izstrādē, tādējādi skolēni bagātināja vārdu krājumu, praktizējot tādas valodas prasmes kā lasīšana, klausīšanās un rakstīšana. Pārbaudes darbi, viktorīnas un aptaujas tika izmantotas kā datu ieguves metodes. Rezultāti norāda, ka ir iespējams pilnveidot karjerai specifisku vārdu krājumu 12. klases skolēniem caur skolotāja vadītiem ESP uzdevumiem. Visi skolēni ir parādījuši progresu un snieguši pozitīvu atgriezenisko saikni. Skolēni atklāj, ka spēj ne vien atpazīt jaunus vārdus, bet arī tos pielietot, producējot valodu, piemēram, rakstiski. Vislabāk skolēni reaģēja uz klausīšanās uzdevumiem, savukārt, rakstīšanas uzdevumus minēja kā vissarežģītākos. Rezultāti arī atklāja, ka skolēni jūtas vairāk pārliecināti komunikatīvajā kompetencē pēc piedalīšanās gadījuma pētījumā, izaicinošo uzdevumu un novērtējuma, kas tika izsniegts vēstules formā, iekļaujot gan konstruktīvu kritiku, gan uzslavas, dēļ. Diplomdarba autore izstrādāja un novērtēja uzdevumus, kā arī vadīja skolēnus cauri individuālajam valodas apguves ceļojumam. Šis pētījums uzsver nepieciešamību bagātināt karjerai specifisku vārdu krājumu 12. klases skolēnu vidū, lai sagatavotu angļu valodas prasmi tālākai izglītībai un darba tirgum.

The present diploma paper examines how teacher-guided ESP assignments can help 12th Grade students enrich their career specific vocabulary. The importance of vocabulary in learning the English language is explored and ESP teaching methods are analyzed and adapted for successful implementation in 12th Grade. To answer the research questions, six 12th Grade students-volunteers participated in a case study on enriching career specific vocabulary through teacher-guided ESP assignments. An integrated approach was used when developing the assignments, so the students enriched their vocabulary through practicing language skills such as reading, listening, and writing. Tests, quizzes, and surveys were used as data collection methods. The results showed that it is possible to enrich career specific vocabulary of 12th Grade students through teacher-guided ESP assignments. All students have shown progress and left positive feedback. The students stated that they could not only recognize the new vocabulary but could also use it when producing language (e.g. through writing activities). The students responded the best to listening assignments and found the writing assignment the most challenging. The results also revealed that students felt more confident in their communicative competence after participating in the case study due to the assignments being challenging and because the evaluation came in a form of a feedback letter containing constructive criticism and praising. The activities were designed and evaluated by the author, who guided the students through their individual language journeys. This study emphasizes the need of enriching career specific vocabulary among 12th Grade students to prepare their English language proficiency for further education and work environment.
