Abstract

Maģistra darba “Ventspils pilsētas iedzīvotāju sociāli ekonomiskais portrets 19. gadsimta beigās” mērķis ir konstatēt Ventspils pilsētas iedzīvotāju sociālā portreta iezīmes 19. gadsimta beigās sākot ar 1877. gadu, kad tika ieviesti jaunie pilsētu likumi, līdz 1897. gadam, kad notika Krievijas impērijas pirmā vispārējā tautskaite. Šādā skatījumā Ventspils pilsēta vēl nav tikusi pētīta, tādēļ darbs ir būtisks pienesums 19. gadsimta vēstures historiogrāfijā. Darbā analizēti tautskaites statistiskie dati par Ventspils iedzīvotāju sociālo un etnisko struktūru, skaidroti statistikas datu cēloņi un būtība, kā arī konstatētas galvenās pilsētas iedzīvotāju sociālā portreta īpatnības. Uzmanība pievērsta arī pilsētas ekonomiskajai situācijai pētāmajā laika posmā, lai parādītu Ventspils iedzīvotāju sadzīvi un ikdienu divdesmit gadu garumā pirms lielajām pārmaiņām, kad tika uzcelts dzelzceļš Maskava-Ribinska-Ventspils un attīstīta osta, kas ienesa būtiskas izmaiņas pilsētas dzīvē un izaugsmē.

The aim of the Master’s thesis “Socio-economic portrait of Ventspils city residents at the end of the 19th century” is to identify the features of the social portrait of Ventspils city residents at the end of the 19th century, starting from 1877, when new city laws were introduced, until 1897, when the first general census of the Russian Empire took place. From this point of view, the city of Ventspils has not yet been studied, therefore the work is a significant contribution to the historiography of 19th century history. The paper analyzes census statistical data on the social and ethnic structure of Ventspils population, explains the causes and essence of statistical data, as well as identifies the main features of the social portrait of the city population. Attention is also paid to the economic situation of the city during the study period to show the life and daily life of Ventspils residents during the twenty years before the great changes, when the Moscow-Ribinsk-Ventspils railway was built and a port was developed, which brought significant changes to city life and growth.
