The development stages of the Baltic Sea basin have affected areas in the vicinity of the ancient Ventspils lagoon where landforms, corresponding to Ancylus Lake and Littorina Sea stages, can be detected. An automated palaeogeographical modelling workflow has been developed, in order to detect and verify the relevant shorelines. By applying the established methodology, 25 ancient shoreline models have been acquired, which conform to 10 different shores. The models are verified in accordance with terrain, previous study data, and field work data. In this study, a comprehensive explanation is given on the development of the ancient Ventspils lagoon during the Stone age, broadening the perception of the archaeological events in the territory and providing basis for further archaeological investigations.
