Dental anxiety is associated with poor oral health outcomes due to higher caries prevalence and severity, increased number of missing teeth, worsened periodontal status (van Wijk & Hoogstraten, 2003) and reduced oral hygiene status (DeDonno, 2012). Successful identification is, therefore, highly important, and numerous psychometric assessment tools have been developed for that purpose. The IDAF-4C+ is one of the most recently developed psychometric dental anxiety assessment tools. The aim of this study is translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the IDAF-4C+ to Latvian in order to apply the Latvian IDAF-4C+ version in routine dental practice, determine its reliability, and explore the differences in dental anxiety levels across genders and age. Key words: Dental anxiety, Index of Dental Anxiety and Fear, reliability, psychometrics.
