Dzīvnieku aizsardzības idejas attīstība Latvijas teritorijā no 19.gs. otrās puses līdz 20.gs. sākumam

Abstract

Bakalaura darbs ir vērsts uz līdz šim historiogrāfijā vēl neaplūkotas Latvijas vēstures sastāvdaļas – agrīnās dzīvnieku aizsardzības kustības – izpēti. Darba mērķis ir apzināt un raksturot dzīvnieku aizsardzības idejas aktualizēšanās un attīstības procesu Latvijas teritorijā laikā no 19.gs. otrās puses līdz 20.gs. sākumam, to skatot caur tajā laikā vadošo dzīvnieku aizsardzības organizāciju izveides un darbības prizmu. Pētījumā secināts, ka vēlajiem jaunajiem laikiem raksturīgās izmaiņas sabiedrības vispārējā attieksmē pret dzīvniekiem lielā mērā ir saistāmas ar tā laika dzīvnieku aizsardzības organizāciju izvērsto aktīvo un daudzveidīgo darbību.

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the study of an as yet unexplored component of the history of Latvia – early animal protection movement. The aim of this research is to identify and describe the actualization and development of the idea of animal protection in the territory of Latvia during the period from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, looking at it through the prism of the establishment and operation of the leading animal protection societies at that time. The research concludes that the changes in mainstream public attitudes towards animals, characteristic to modern times, are largely attributable to the dynamic and diverse activities of its contemporary animal protection organizations.
