In this work numerical methods, which can be done in parallel by decomposing time were considered. The goal of the methods is to use a coarse and quick approximation, as a result, many initial value problems are created which can be approximated in parallel with a finer method. The main emphasis is put on the Nievergelt method as one of the first parallel numerical methods and the Parareal method, which is one of the most popular parallel numerical methods. The parallel methods were applied to ordinary differential equation and heat equation problems. The mentioned parallel algorithms will be implemented with Julia. Julia is a new programming language, that is growing more popular. The Nievergelt and the Parareal method is implemented, and used on the problems, to show quicker execution times than compared to sequential numerical methods.
