Copulas are a useful tool for understanding the structure of data dependency at a much deeper level. They allow modeling multivariate distributions by combining marginal distributions of random vector components into one common distribution function. The first part of the bachelor's thesis provides the definition of a copula and its main properties. Archimedean copulas (Clayton, Gumbel, and Frank) and two elliptical copulas, Gaussian and t-copula, have been described. Estimation of copula's parameters and model selection criterions based on goodness of fit are considered. The second part deals with the models of conditional heteroskedasticity: EWMA model, the autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity model, as well as its extension GARCH model. The formulation of the models, parameter estimation, best model selection and forecasting are described. In the practical part, the effect of conditional heteroskedasticity have been revealed for multidimensional time series data as well as GARCH and ARIMA models have been fitted to the data. Gaussian and t-copula are used to calculate market risk factor shocks according to the proposed methodology for calibration market risk stress test scenarios.
