Tiešā runa kā varoņu attēlojuma līdzeklis īsstāstos

Abstract

Tiešā runa ir svarīgs līdzeklis tēlu vizualizēšanai un attēlojumam, un šis runas veids ir bieži sastopams literatūrā, arī īsstāstos, kur vārdu un lapaspušu skaits ir limitēts. Ir autori (Semino (2004) and Ernst (2007)), kuru pētījumi novelēs palīdzēja veikt tiešās runas analīzi arī īsstāstos. Šī darba korpuss ir 20gs. literatūras īsstāsti, un tie ir patiešām atšķirīgi no mūsdienu, un daudz vienkāršāki, klasiskāki satura ziņā, taču ar tēliem, kas nebūt nav vienmuļi. Šī darba mērķis ir izpētīt, ko tiešā runa atklāj par galvenajiem varoņiem četros izvēlētos 20gs. šausmu īsstāstots. Pētījuma metode ir gadījuma izpēte un satura analīze. Rezultāti pierāda, ka tiešā runa atklāj par tēliem papildus vairāk nekā piedāvātais tēla apraksts un iepazīstina lasītājus ar tēliem dziļāk un efektīvi, piemēram, tēlu nodomiem un iekšējām izjūtām par šausmu situāciju, kurā tie ir.

Direct speech is an important aspect for the portrayal and visualization of characters, and this speech form is frequently utilized in literature, including short stories, where word and page count is limited. There are authors (Semino (2004) and Ernst (2007)) whose findings in novels helped to analyse direct speech in short stories, which constitute the corpus of this research. Literature of the 20th century differs from today’s; the 20th century short stories are simpler and classical in terms of content, but introduce characters, which are not monotonous. The aim of this research is to focus on what can be revealed about the main characters in four selected short horror stories from 20th century by their direct speech instances. Research methods are case study and content analysis. Results prove that direct speech indeed reveals additional information about characters other than provided description by the author and introduces characters to the readers more efficiently, for example, the characters’ intentions and their feelings toward the horrific situation they are in.
