Starppersonu diskursa iezīmētāju lietojums ASV prezidentu inaugurācijas runās

Abstract

Inaugurācijas runas ir svarīgs un emocionāls notikums amerikāņiem, un ievēlētā prezidenta valodas lietojumam var būt nozīmīga emocionāla ietekme uz auditoriju. Pētījuma mērķis bija izvērtēt attieksmi un vērtējumu izsakošo lingvistisko elementu lietojuma nozīmi ASV prezidentu inaugurācijas runās. Šis bakalaura darbs apvienoja kvalitatīvo un kvantitatīvo pētījuma paradigmu, veicot diskursa analīzi. Rezultāti parādīja, ka personas vietniekvārdi un attieksmi izsakošie īpašības vārdi bija divas visbiežāk lietotās starppersonu diskursa iezīmētāju apakškategorijas. Tika secināts, ka šo diskursa iezīmētāju galvenās funkcijas bija radīt solidaritātes sajūtu, uzsvērt amerikāņu nācijas unikalitāti un atspoguļot prezidentu attieksmi un vērtējumu, tādējādi padarot runas emocionālas un pārliecinošas.

The inaugural address is an important and emotional event for the Americans, and the use of language by the President-elect may have a significant emotional impact on the audience. Therefore, the goal of the paper was to shed light on the role of the linguistic means expressing evaluation and attitude used in inaugural addresses of the U.S presidents. The present study combined the qualitative and quantitative research paradigm by performing a discourse analysis. The results revealed that such subcategories of interpersonal discourse markers as personalisations and adjectives of attitude were the most prevalent in the inaugural addresses. It was concluded that the main functions of the interpersonal discourse markers were to create a sense of solidarity, emphasize the distinctiveness of the American nation and reflect the presidents’ attitude and evaluation, thus making the speeches emotional and persuasive.
