Abstract
Recent spread of COVID-19 virus and the restrictions of use of public places, including the grocery shops, has substantially increased demand for online shopping and consumption of food, groceries and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) products over ecommerce websites worldwide, including Latvia, at the same time highlighting need to clarify actual status of consumer data protection by the companies operating these ecommerce websites and their compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) came into force in the European Union on 25 May 2018.
