The herbarium of the Botany and Mycology collection of the Museum of the University of Latvia houses alpine butterwort herbariums collected in both Estonia and Latvia. The only natural soil of the plant in Latvia was Staburags, which was flooded with the construction of the HPP. In later years it was also found in Rauna’s Staburags. Samples of alpine butterwort are kept in the herbarium of Herbarium Latvicum (RIG II), Herbarium Balticum (RIG I), Herbarium Lakshewitzi (RIG III) and Jānis Ilster’s herbarium in the LU Museum. Herbarium Latvicum contains the last sample collected on Staburags by the botanist Gaida Ābele (b. 1931).
