Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, vai bakalaura līmeņa studentiem optimistisks atribūcijas stils ir saistāms ar augstākiem akadēmiskajiem sasniegumiem, nekā pesimistisks atrubūcijas stils. Pētījumā piedalījās 54 studenti. Izlase tika veidota pēc pieejamības principa. Pētījumā tika lietota Atribūcijas stila aptauja vispārējai lietošanai (An Attributional Style Questionnaire for General Use) (Dykema et al., 1996). The aim of this study was to investigate whether an optimistic attributional style is associated with higher academic achievement than a pessimistic attributional style in undergraduate students. 54 students participated in the study. The sample was based on the principle of availability. The Attributional Style Questionnaire for General Use (Dykema et al., 1996) was used in the study. This questionnaire is a modified version of the Attributional Style Questionnaire (ASQ; Peterson et al., 1982). The survey was adapted into Latvian for this paper. The adaptation was performed using bidirectional translation, both scales met the reliability requirements, Cronbach's alpha > 0.70 (Globaloty dimension α 0.86 and Stability dimension α 0.83). To assess the level of academic achievement, students were asked to indicate their weighted average grade for Part A and Part B courses from the whole period of study at the end of the questionnaire. The study tested and approved the hypothesis - "For undergraduate students, a more optimistic attribution style is associated with higher academic achievement". The results reveal that there is a strong positive linear relationship between the globality dimension and the stability dimension, and a moderately strong negative linear relationship between the globality dimension and the mean score. Also that there is a strong negative linear relationship between the stability dimension and the mean score. The results show that average grade was mainly explained by the stability dimension. Keywords: attribution style, academic achievement, globality dimension, stability dimension.
