The aim of the study was to find out whether there is a relationship between anxiety, automatic negative thoughts and emotion regulation. The study included 83 respondents aged 21 to 65 years (M = 37.55, SD = 1.09), of whom 42% were women and 58% were men (35 women, 48 men). In the study, the Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire (ATQ), Hollon & Kendall (1980), was used to measure the level of automatic negative thoughts, the adaptation in Latvian was performed by M. Krūmiņa (2019). State - Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Spielberger CD, Gorsuch RL, Lushene R., Vagg PR and Jacobs GA (1983), was used to measure the level of anxiety level, adapted in Latvian by D. Škuškovnika (2004). Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, ERQ, Gross & John (2003), adapted in Latvian by M. Morozova (2011), was used to determine the level of emotion regulation skills. The results of the study show a statistically significant, moderately close, positive correlation between anxiety as a feature and automatic negative thoughts, as well as a statistically significant, weak, negative correlation between the emotional regulation cognitive reassessment scale and anxiety as a feature. An additional question about gender differences was raised during the study. The obtained results indicate that there are statistically significant differences, between the groups of men and women, in the scale of anxiety as a feature, where the group of women shows a higher level of anxiety.
