Balstoties Fuko un Illiča skatījumā uz cilvēku uzraudzības telpā, atklājas šīs telpas aizvien pieaugošā sarežģītība un spriedze, kas veidojas realizējot un nemitīgi uzlabojot sabiedrības pārvaldi. Vernakulārā joma jeb pasaule ir Illiča aicinājums novērtēt dažādas cilvēka aktivitātes, kuras netiek pakļautas formālajai ekonomikai, piedāvājums aktualizēt autonomu lēmumu pieņemšanu, kā arī spēju atzīt par vērtīgu to, kas saistīts ar sevi un sevis radīto. The Human Body in the Surveillance Room and the Vernacular World: the View of Michel Foucault and Ivan Illich is developed on the basis of the author's interest in man and his body both as a manageable and influential object and a subject capable of expressing selfcontrol in the practices of power. Based on Foucault's and Illich's view of people in the surveillance room, the growing complexity and tension of this space, formed by focusing on and constantly improving the public administration, is revealed. The vernacular world, is Illich's invitation to evaluate several non subjected to formal economy human activities, an offer to actualize autonomous decision-making, and also the ability to recognize as valuable what is related to and created by oneself.
