Phillips curve is one of the most important tools that is used in ECB and European central banks. This relationship between marginal cost and inflation is used to shape monetary policy in the European Union. Monetary policy works with a time lag, so it is important to know how high inflation will be in the future. The Phillips curve is the tool used to obtain these forecasts. The slope of the Phillips curve is important: the flatter the curve, the more expensive it becomes for central banks to stabilize inflation. Economists believe that the curve has become flat, the relationship between inflation and marginal costs has disappeared, and other factors are driving inflation. The aim of this paper is to assess the relationship between marginal costs and inflation in Europe and the Baltic States. Basic, hybrid and open economy Phillips curve models were derived.
