In this master’s thesis, the Strenči magnetic anomaly is studied by geophysical inversion modelling. The geophysical model was developed using geophysical data acquired in previous explorations during the last century, as well as newly gathered magnetic data. Two different models were made: one based on the inversion of magnetic susceptibility and the other using Magnetic Vector Inversion. Based on these models, a geophysical and geological interpretation of the magnetic anomaly was given. The model allowed to conclude that the source of the anomaly is embedded in the metamorphosed granulite facies crystalline basement rocks of the Proterozoic to a depth of about five kilometers. The rocks possess relatively high magnetic susceptibility and remanent magnetization which has a substantial effect on the model. It was also discovered that the magnetization vectors coincide with the general direction of the dip of the rock strata. Based on previous research analysis, it was calculated that the predicted ore body contains a significant amount of critical minerals used in renewable energy technologies. Finally, a conclusion was made that the previous research has gathered a wealth of data, that can be used in regional crystalline basement research but not for detailed geophysical exploration of anomalies due to the uncertainty of the old data.
