Literārie prototipi: Mārtiņš A. Upīša romānu ciklā “Robežnieki”

Abstract

Andreja Upīša romānu cikls “Robežnieki” ir dzimtas stāsta tradīcijā veidots lieldarbs ar kultūrvēsturisku nozīmi. Pētījumā iekļauti četri cikla romāni: “Jauni avoti” (1909), “Zīda tīklā” (1912), “Ziemeļa vējš” (1921) un “Vecas ēnas” (1934). Kā viens no galvenajiem un spilgtākajiem tēliem romānos atainots Mārtiņš Robežnieks, kura literārais prototips ir Mārtiņš Upītis – rakstnieka brālis un maģistra darba autores vecvectēvs. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Mārtiņa Upīša biogrāfijas faktus un salīdzināt tos ar Mārtiņa Robežnieka attēlojumu romānu ciklā “Robežnieki”. Papildu Mārtiņa Upīša dzīvesgājuma izpētei lūkots apzināt ciklā iekļauto darbu rašanās individuālos apstākļus un kritikas atsauksmes, kā arī skatīt prototipa nozīmi prozas tapšanā. Pētīts Skrīveru iedzīvotāju, tostarp Mārtiņa Robežnieka, atainojums romānu ciklā tēlotajā laiktelpā, kā arī reālās, vēsturiski nozīmīgās un ar Mārtiņu saistītās vietas un objekti, kas tiek iezīmēti Skrīveru pagasta kartē. Pētījumā kā galvenās izmantotas biogrāfiskā un kultūrvēsturiskā pieeja, kā arī literārā kartēšana, kas ļauj secināt, ka daļējs Mārtiņa Upīša personības raksturojums un vairāki nozīmīgi biogrāfijas fakti iekļauti “Robežnieku” cikla romānos, īpaši izceļot smago rentnieka dzīvi dažādās mājās Skrīveru pagastā un dalību 1905. gada revolūcijas notikumos.

The novel series “Robežnieki” by Andrejs Upīts is a masterpiece of culturally historical significance based on the family story tradition. The research includes four novels: “Jauni avoti” (1909), “Zīda tīklā” (1912), “Ziemeļa vējš” (1921) and “Vecas ēnas” (1934). One of the main, most vibrant characters in the novels is Mārtiņš Robežnieks, whose literary prototype is Mārtiņš Upītis – the writer's brother and great-grandfather of the author of this Masters’ thesis. The aim of the thesis is to convey a detailed study of Mārtiņš Upītis’ biography and to compare it with the depiction of Mārtiņš Robežnieks in the novel series “Robežnieki”. In addition to the research of Mārtiņš Upītis’ biography, the thesis attempts to uncover individual circumstances linked to the emergence of the “Robežnieki” novels, as well as the significance of the prototype in the creation of prose. The representation of the Skrīveri society, including Mārtiņš Robežnieks, in the time and space depicted in the novel series, as well as the real, historically significant places and objects related to Mārtiņš, which are later marked on the map of the Skrīveri parish, have been studied. The biographical and cultural-historical approach, as well as literary cartography are used in the study, which allows to conclude that a partial description of Mārtiņš Upītis’ personality and several important biographical facts are included in the “Robežnieki” novel series, especially highlighting the heavy life of a tenant in various houses in the Skrīveri parish and participation in the events of the Revolution of 1905.
