Throughout the history of civilizations and cultures, relations between different peoples and ethnicities have constant linguistic contacts between speakers of different languages. These contacts, in addition to having as a consequence changes in the idiolect of the speaker, can also manifest the influence of one language on another in the linguistic system of a community. Nowadays, with technological advances and the globalization of everyday life, the natural transfer of life habits, inventions, devices and ideas between peoples has intensified, propagating with them their corresponding linguistic signs. The language of advertising is closely related to language changes and reflects the main trends in the development of the language. The language of German advertising has absorbed a large number of Anglicisms, which is especially noticeable on the example of the slogans considered in this thesis, which are either completely written in English or include English words and expressions. The object of the thesis is the English loanwords functioning in the German language. The subject of the thesis is the specifics of the functioning of English loanwords in German advertising discourse. The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is to determine the degree of influence of the English language on the language of German advertising. Based on the analyzed material in the bachelor's thesis, an attempt is made to assess the current language situation in Germany, as well as to determine the role of advertising discourse in enriching the German language with English-language borrowings.
