Bachelor's thesis topic - Peripheral vein catheter care in hospitals. The topicality of the topic is very relevant nowadays because complications of peripheral catheters are one of the measurements of the quality of care. The administration of peripheral vein catheters is performed by specialized medical personnel following care guidelines. The most common causes of infection are staphylococcus and staphylococcus aureus. Nurses need to monitor the condition of the patient's peripheral catheters so that there are no signs of inflammation or infection around the catheter, and the nurse must inform the patient if signs of infection or inflammation are observed. The study aimed to determine the quality of peripheral venous catheter care for inpatients and compliance with guidelines and standards in a hospital. The tasks of the research are as follows: to compile and analyse literature sources and research publications on the care of peripheral vein catheters and its standards. Carry out a study and draw conclusions based on the results obtained. Research question: What is the quality of peripheral venous catheter care in hospital? The study used a qualitative research method. The study involved ten nurses caring for peripheral venous catheters. An observation protocol was used as a research tool. Results of the study: The results of the study were achieved by an observation protocol where ten nurses were observed. Observation of nursing care in the care of peripheral venous catheters in patients showed signs of inflammation in the catheter area since there were nurses who did not perform proper hand hygiene and did not test the catheter during treatment. Dirty bandages and unlabelled bandages with catheter insertion time and date were also observed. Some nurses made mistakes with the documentation and did not make any notes on the patient cards after catheter get in the vein, and when the catheter removal, and whether the patient has any signs of inflammation. Keywords: peripheral venous catheter, peripheral venous catheter care, complications, characteristics of a peripheral venous catheter, patient care.
