Rīgas vēstures un senatnes pētītāju biedrība (1834-1939) un tās bibliotēka

Abstract

Rīgas vēstures un senatnes pētītāju biedrība darbojās no 1834. līdz 1939.gadam. Tās mērķis bija krāt un apkopot darbus par Baltijas guberņām. Biedrības uzdevums bija pētīt vēstures avotus un pētījumus publicēt biedrības periodiskajā izdevumā. Biedrības organizatoriskā struktūra un darbības principi tika vērtēti analoģiski Vācijas vēstures biedrību attīstībai. Biedrības dibinātāji un aktīvākie dalībnieki bija vācbaltiešu literāti un vācu muižniecības pārstāvji. Pētījuma otrajā nodaļā tika analizēts bibliotēkas krājuma komplektēšanas jautājums. Tika secināts, ka biedrības bibliotēkas krājumā visvairāk nonāca dāvinājumi. Biedrība krājumu papildināja ar iepirkumiem. Pētīts mācītāja Johann Gotthard Schweder privātā bibliotēkas saturs kā biedrības bibliotēkas pamats. Atslēgvārdi: vēstures biedrība, bibliotēka, literāti, dāvinājumi.

Riga Society of Historical and Ancient Studies was active from 1834 to 1939. Its aim was to collect and compile works on Baltic sea provinces. The task of the Society was to study historical sources and publish them in the periodic edition of the Society. The organizational structure and action principles of the society were assessed by analogy to the development of German historical societies. The founders and most active participants of the Society were first Baltic German scholars or literati as well as representatives of the German nobility.The second section of the research analysed the collation of Riga history and antiquities library collection. It was concluded that mainly donations, as well as purchases. The study focused on the acquisition and content of Pastor’s Johann Gotthard Schweder private library, as it formed the basis of the Society’s library.
