Saīsinājumi: SEM -sociāli emocionālā mācīšanās, AN – apzinātības vingrinājumi. Author of the work: Sanita Vītiņa The topic of thesis: Promoting self- regulation skills of elementary school’s pupils in classroom lessons. The aim: theoretically analyse and practically verify how self-regulation skills can be promoted for elementary school pupils in classroom lessons. In the first theoretical part of the thesis, the findings of various authors of pedagogy and psychology on the concept of self-regulation skills, as well as its connection with socio-emotional learning, are studied and analysed. In addition, the characteristics of elementary school students are analysed within the scope of the work topic. The second chapter of the thesis analyses the classroom lessons and investigates how it is possible to promote students' self-regulation skills using mindfulness exercises within the framework of the classroom lessons. In order to find out how the self-regulation skills of students can be promoted in the classroom with the help of mindfulness exercises, in the 1st stage of the empirical part of the thesis, an observation of elementary school students was carried out, leading mindfulness lessons and a pupil survey. Stage 2 of the empirical part consists of a teacher survey and interviews with teachers who practice mindfulness lessons, sharing real experiences of how mindfulness-based exercises promote students' self-regulation skills. Based on the theoretical and empirical data, the results of the study confirm that the self-regulation skills of elementary school pupils are promoted in classroom lessons with the help of mindfulness exercises. Research hypothesis: Pupils' self-regulation skills will be enhanced if the teacher implements the methodology of mindfulness exercises within the classroom. Structure of the thesis: the thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and empirical. The volume of the work is 76 pages, including 21 pictures, 7 tables, as well as 39 bibliographical sources. In addition to the work, 10 appendices are added on 18 pages. Keywords: self-regulation skills, social-emotional learning, mindfulness, mindfulness exercises. Abbreviations: SEM - social-emotional learning, AN - mindfulness exercises.
