In the Bachelor's work “Hydromorphological assessment of the lower course of the river Ķekava”, based on hydromorphological indicators of the RHS (River Habitat Survey) methodology, characteristics of hydromorphological parameters that includes channel substrate, flow regime, riparian quality and geomorphic activity were studied at the lower course of the river Ķekava, The results of the study show that in the studied part of the River Ķekava, the dominant channel substrate corresponds to the sand/silt/clay values, the value of the flow regime corresponds is applicable to a slow - moderately rapid value, the riparian quality index value corresponds to the medium value, and the overall river geomorphological activity value was found to be high. The results of the study from the River Ķekava and other rivers of similar characteristics in Latvia allow to conclude that the hydromorphological state of certain sections of the River Ķekava can be improved not only by restoring the riverbed itself in the places where it has been reclaimed, but also by improving the geomechanical stability of the banks, in that way also improving the shading of the river. It is also possible to gently clean the riverbed and create artificial streams or place wooden or stone structures on the riverbed, which increase the river's self-cleaning capacity.
