The choice of the topic of the bachelor thesis is related to the fact that money laundering is one of the most common criminal offences not only in Latvia, but all over the world. It is a crime that damages the global financial system and economy, and therefore a great deal of resources are invested in combating this crime on a global scale. In Latvia, too, the work on improving legal provisions to facilitate the fight against money laundering is ongoing. One of the problems is the correct qualification and mutual delimitation of the offences of money laundering and realisation of proceeds of crime. During the preparation of the bachelor thesis the legal framework on money laundering and its development has been studied. A legal analysis of the composition of proceeds from crime and of the composition of property obtained by crime has been carried out, as well as an analysis of the legislation on money laundering in force abroad. The necessity of delimitation of criminal offences provided for in different articles of the Criminal Law as well as their commonality are examined.
