Bachelor's thesis topic “Postoperative Wound Care for Patients with Diabetes”. It is important to research this topic as the increasing prevalence of diabetes poses a significant challenge in providing adequate postoperative wound care. Patients with diabetes are at increased risk for developing postoperative wound infections. This is because diabetes can damage the blood vessels, which can reduce the flow of blood to the wound site. This can make it difficult for the body to deliver the nutrients and oxygen needed for healing. The aim of the work is to find out what post-operative wound care is provided in diabetes patients. The tasks of the research are to analyse the literature and researches on diabetes and post-operative wound care, draw insights from Dorothea Orem's nursing theory, regarding postoperative wound care for diabetic patients, to create a research instrument – a partially structured interview, and to interview general care nurses about post-operative wound care for diabetic patients, collect and analyse the obtained results, draw conclusions. The proposed research question is "What postoperative wound care is provided for patients with diabetes?" The qualitative research method - semi-structured interview - was used for this research. Research instrument – interview questions. Eight general care nurses were interviewed as part of the study. During the research, it was found out what kind of care is provided to patients with diabetes. Researching scientific literature and interviewing general care nurses revealed that postoperative wound care in diabetes patients requires a holistic approach.
