The objectives of the thesis were the following: firstly, to collect the literature data about the types of pain, groups of NSAIDs, their mechanisms of action, indications and specificity of use, secondly, to get acquainted with the distribution of NSAIDs in the environment and the risks associated with it, thirdly, to determine NSAIDs in wastewater samples from different regions of Latvia and, fourthly, to conduct the survey to assess population awareness, behavioral patterns and individual mechanism of action during the disposal of pharmaceutical waste.
