The title of the bachelor degree thesis is Thoracic image acquisition protocols and optimization in congenital chest pathologies. The topic of the bachelor thesis is important because pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum are the most common anterior chest wall deformities that can cause not only cosmetic defects, severe pain, but also cardiovascular and respiratory system disorders. Pectus exavatum is the most common chest deformity in world. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to investigate the possibilities of optimising the chest CT protocol in congenital thoracic deformities. To achieve this goal, the following tasks were set: to select and summarise the literature on thoracic anatomy, to select and summarise the literature on pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum deformities, to select and summarise the literature on the principles of CT operation and image acquisition, to select and analyse the literature on standard protocols for chest CT, to conduct a study comparing two CT scan protocols for the diagnosis of chest deformity on different equipment, to study the information obtained, to draw conclusions and to make proposals. We hypothesize that when conducting a chest examination using a 64-row CT scanner, specific technical parameters must be adjusted and tailored to the examination protocol, particularly in cases of chest deformity. The hypothesis was confirmed. The tool used in the study: comparison of chest CT scan protocols of two medical institutions with a standard protocol. Method of the study: qualitative research method, comparative analysis. The study protocol used was a tabular study protocol comparing the chest CT scan protocols of two clinical University Hospitals with a standard chest protocol. During the preparation of the bachelor thesis, the data were summarised and compared and conclusions were drawn about the literature, sources of information and the study section. The total length of the bachelor thesis is 33 pages. The thesis consists of 3 chapters and 4 sub-chapters. Chapter 4 is the research part and contains 2 sub-chapters. The thesis contains 1 attachment, 7 conclusions and 17 sources of literature and information were used. Keywords: standard protocol for computed tomography, chest deformities
