Darbs sastāv no 52 lappuses. Bachelor's thesis topic "Patient safety during inpatient intravenous drug care". The topicality of the topic is determined by the fact that the insertion of a peripheral venous catheter is one of the most frequently used in-patient procedures for vascular access, and also based on the fact that nurses must follow the care of peripheral venous catheters, preventing a possible risk of infection. The aim of the work is to find out whether safe intravenous drug care is used in nursing practice while the patient is in the hospital. In order to achieve the goal of the research, the literature was analyzed, a survey was created for nurses, several tasks were created, research was conducted on the chosen topic, results were summarized, conclusions and recommendations were made. The work consists of 4 chapters, 10 subsections, 7 conclusions, 3 recommendations and 3 appendices. 14 819 literature sources were used. The bachelor's thesis uses the quantitative research method, with the research tool - a questionnaire created by the author, which consists of 15 questions. The obtained results are reflected in pie charts and indicated in percentages and numerically. The work consists of 52 pages. Summarizing the results and based on the goal, it can be concluded that the majority of respondents have 1-5 years of work experience, which means that it is nurses with less work experience who most accurately observe patient safety during inpatient intravenous medication care, but respondents with more work experience also observe the patient's safety. Almost all respondents carry out comprehensive patient education in order to promote the patient's participation in treatment processes and to prevent complications related to the introduction of a peripheral venous catheter as soon as possible. All respondents performed follow-up activities after the administration of intravenous drugs and assess the patient's health status. Summarizing the results, it can be concluded that nurses observe patient safety during inpatient intravenous drug care.
