Īpašvārdu lietojums žurnāla National Geographic rakstos

Šis pētījums ir aktuāls, jo īpašvārdi nodrošina identifikācijas funkciju, papildinot valodu un iekļaujoties dažādos sintaktiskos procesos. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt īpašvārdu lietojumu “National Geographic” žurnāla rakstos, analizējot to veidus un sintaktiskās funkcijas. Pētījums tiek veikts, izmantojot kvalitatīvos un kvantitatīvos komponentus. Lai meklētu atbildes uz pētījuma jautājumiem, tiek izmantotas teksta analīzes un lietojuma biežuma analīzes metodes. Analīzei tika atlasīti piecpadsmit “National Geographic” raksti, un rezultāti liecina, ka dominējošais īpašvārdu veids ir ģeogrāfiskās vienības, un tās galvenokārt tiek izmantotas kā teikuma priekšmeti. Gluži pretēji, dokumentu, zinātnisko terminu un aprīkojuma identificēšanai izmantotie īpašvārdi, kā arī papildinātāja un netiešo objektu sintaktiskās funkcijas tika lietotas reti. The present research is topical since proper nouns provide an identifying function, adding to the richness of the language and being included in various syntactic processes. The thesis aims to examine the use of proper nouns in National Geographic magazine articles, analysing their types and syntactic functions. The research is conducted using qualitative and quantitative components. The methods of text analysis and frequency analysis are utilised to seek answers to the research questions. Fifteen National Geographic articles were selected for analysis, and the results show that the most predominant type of proper nouns is geographic entities, and they are mostly used as subjects. On the contrary, the proper nouns used to identify documents, scientific terms and equipment were used rarely, as were the syntactic functions of complements and indirect objects.
