Name of this study is analysis of the population genetic structure of Large Gold Grasshopper Chrysochraon dispar (Germar, 1834) in calcareous fens. Calcareous fens are rare and protected habitats in the European Union, threatened by fragmentation. One approach to understand the impact of fragmentation on the habitat dwelling species, is to analyze the populations of habitat specialists and their genetic structure. Samples of the Large Gold Grasshopper were collected in the territories of Engure Lake Nature Park and Apšuciems fens, and the iPBS molecular marker was used to characterize their genetic structure. The internal genetic diversity of the populations was found to be low. The genetic similarity between populations and the impact of geographical distance on gene flow between populations were analyzed. It was concluded that the populations are genetically similar to each other, gene flow has occurred between them, and although geographical distance affects gene flow between populations, it does not completely restrict it.
