Bakalaura darba virsraksts ir “Ceļošana vienatnē no jauniešu perspektīvas”. Darba mērķis bija izpētīt starptautisko ceļošanu vienatnē no jauniešu perspektīvas. The title of the bachelor’s thesis is “Traveling alone from a youth perspective”. The aim of the thesis was to research international traveling alone from a youth perspective. Three sociological theories were reviewed – Ulrich Beck and risk society, Sigmund Bauman and liquid modernity, and Georg Simmel and group affiliation, social ties. To achieve the goal of the thesis, 10 semi-structured interviews were conducted with young people who have travelled alone in the past three years or do so regularly. Information obtained from the interviews was analysed using narrative and thematic analysis. Young people’s experiences and perceptions of traveling alone vary, yet often the stories of young people revealed traits of individualisation. Young people perceive the risks of traveling alone, but admit that they don’t think enough about risks, also risking deliberately. Contrary to what is stated in the sociology theories reviewed, young people still perceive relationships with others as important.
