Pētījums veikts Burtnieku ezerā no 2013. gada 9. maija līdz 14. oktobrim.
Atslēgvārdi: Burtnieku ezers, eitrofikācija, apsaimniekošanas perspektīvas Lakes are important freshwater resources for human society’s existence. In order to describe and analyse the anthropogenic changes in lakes, it is important to understand the structure of these ecosystems and the interactions between constituent organisms.
This study describes and analyzes the most important components of a shallow lake ecosystem, analyzes literature about lake management in other countries. The study was conducted from May 9 till October 14, 2013 in Lake Burtnieks.
The research discusses the changes that occur in eutrophic lake during the vegetation growing season. Water transparency and temperature were the measured physical parameters. The concentrations of total phosphorus and total nitrogen were measured in the lake and in two inflowing rivers. Phytoplankton, zooplankton, zoobenthos and fish species composition and biomass were analyzed.
In the study I tried to find connections between different food chain’s levels. After analyzing the results, management implications aimed at reducing the effects of eutrophication were given.
Keywords: Lake Burtnieks, eutrophication, management implications.
