Vēstures mitoloģija literatūras programmā. Historicitāte un tekstualitāte vai Garlība H. Merķeļa „Wannem Ymanta. Eine lettische Sage” (Leipciga 1802) vācu pirmsākumi

Abstract

Mūsdienās historiogrāfija jeb vēstures rakstīšanas ir viens no aktuālākajiem tematiem. Tas atkal un atkal tiek aktualizēts, kad kādi sabiedrības locekļi vai grupas cenšas to izmantot savu ideoloģisko pārliecību popularizēšanai un izplatīšanai. Šāds process nemaz tik ļoti neatšķiras no tā, ko cilvēki ir izmantojuši arī senākos laikos. Latvijā tiek bieži piemirsts, kas bija Garlībs Merķelis, taču viņa aktualitāte nav joprojām nav zudusi. Tieši viņš bija tas, kurš bruģēja ceļu latviešiem savas nācijas izveidošanai. Viņš ir radījis vairākus darbus, kuri ir kļuvuši par neatņemamu latviešu literatūras sastāvdaļu, lai arī pats Merķelis nebūt nav latviešu tautai piederīgs, bet ir vācbaltu izcelsmes. „Latvieši”, „Vidzemes senatne” un „Vanems Imanta” ir cieši iesakņojušies latviešu literatūrā, taču to ietekme ir nesalīdzināmi plašāka nekā iespējams iedomāties. Tieši „Vanems Imanta”, kura tapšanas vēsture tiek aplūkota šajā darbā, ir literārs darbs, kurš spēja latviešu tautai piešķirt savu vēsturi un savu nacionālo identitāti. Šajā darbā tiek aplūkots, kā izpaužas vēstures fenomens literāros darbos un ciktāl tajos ir iespējams atspoguļot objektīvu vēsturi, lai fakti nepārtaptu dzejojumā.

Nowadays historiography or the writing of history is one of the most discussed topics. It is brought up again and again. Especially, when some members or groups of society are trying to use it to spread their ideological beliefs. However, this kind process does not differ some much from the one that was used by people long ago. In Latvia it is often forgotten who Garlieb Merkel was. Despite that he is continuously present in our modern times. It was he who helped Latvians to create their own nation. He created several works of literature which have now become an irremovable part of the Latvian literature which he is actually not a part of since he is of German descent. „The Latvians”, „Vorzeit Lieflands” and „Wannem Ymanta” have rooted themselves deep into the Latvian literature but their effect is of a much larger scale than imaginable. Especially „Wannem Ymanta” the history of which is reviewed in this paper is a literary artwork which was able to bestow the Latvian people their own history and national identity. In this paper the phenomenon of history is pursued and studied throughout literature to find out if and to what extent it is possible to integrate an objective view of historical events in then so that they do not become plain poetry.
