Mātes Terēzes no Kalkutas ciešanu tematika grāmatā "Come Be My Light"

Abstract

Māte Terēze no Kalkutas ir viena no atpazīstamajām sievietēm Romas katoļu baznīcā. Grāmata par viņas garīgajām ciešanām, Come Be My Light, ir izdota 2007. gadā un izraisīja plašas diskusijas kristīgajā sabiedrībā. Darba mērķis ir iepazīstināt ar mātes Terēzes garīgajām ciešanām, un aplūkot kā tās ir saistītas ar viņas ticību uz Dievu. Rezultātā tika izdarīts secinājums, ka garīgās ciešanas ir labi pazīstamas Romas katoļu baznīcā un ar tām ir saskārušies daudzi Romas katoļu baznīcas mistiķi. Māte Terēze savās ciešanās izjuta Dievu atstumtību, tomēr, kā darbā pierādījās, garīgās ciešanas viņai ļāva labāk iepazīt pasaules atstumtos, un izprast Dieva būtību. Darbs ir sadalīts četrās daļās. Pirmajā daļā tiek aplūkota izpratne par ciešanām un tās attīstība kristietībā. Otrajā daļā iepazīstināts ar mātes Terēzes ģimeni un bērnību, un svarīgākajiem datiem viņas biogrāfijā. Trešajā daļā tiek aplūkotas mātes Terēzes garīgās ciešanas balstoties uz grāmatu Come Be My Light. Ceturtajā daļā mātes Terēzes ciešanas tiek salīdzinātas ar Terēzes no Lizjē garīgajām ciešanām.

Mother Teresa from Calcutta is one of the most recognizable women in the Roman Catholic Church. The book about her suffering “Come Be My Light” was published in the year 2007 and has provoked broad discussions within the Christian society. The aim of this thesis is to introduce the reader to spiritual suffering of Mother Teresa and to show how these sufferings are connected with her faith in God. Since and before Mother Teresa’s time spiritual suffering was well known and recognized by the Catholic Church through Catholic mystics who had experienced similar pain. In her suffering Mother Teresa felt being abandoned by God, nevertheless, suffering helped her relate to persons who were rejected by society and ultimately lead her to understand the nature of God. Thesis is divided into four parts. The first part explores the understanding of suffering and the development of this idea in Christianity. In the second part the reader is introduced to the family and childhood of Mother Teresa, and also to the most important events in her biography. The third part, based on the book “Come Be My Light”, looks into spiritual suffering of Mother Teresa. In the fourth part spiritual suffering of Mother Teresa has been compared to suffering of Theresa of Lisieux.
