Barbelo setiešu teoloģijā: Jāņa apokrifs
Abstract
Darbā tiek apskatīts setiešu gnostiķu skolas teksts Jāņa apokrifs un tajā atrodamais tēls – Barbelo. Mums nav pieejama sistemātiski izstrādāta setiešu teoloģija, tāpēc ir grūti izvērtēt kopumā vienu no galvenajiem elementiem setiešu kosmoloģijā, kas ir Barbelo. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot Barbelo funkcijas un nozīmi saskaņā ar Jāņa apokrifa teoloģiju. Lai to noskaidrotu, vispirms jāizpēta setiešu un Jāņa apokrifa teoloģijas ietekmju avoti. Pēc tam, ņemot šos atrastos avotus kā piemēru, Barbelo tiek salīdzināta ar citu tradīciju konceptiem, kas palīdzētu skaidrot pašu Barbelo. Veiktā pētījuma rezultāti apstiprina darba tēzi (Barbelo raksturota kā aktīvā radītāja un vidutāja starp Dievu un pasauli), un ir radies skaidrāks priekšstats par Barbelo teoloģiskajām funkcijām un nozīmi setiešu darbā Jāņa apokrifs.

In this paper the author will examine one of the sects of Gnosticism – Sethians – and one of the main figures in Sethian cosmology – Barbelo, as found in Sethian text of the Apocryphon of John. Since there are no clear theological lines in Sethian teachings and their theology is so ambiguous, it is difficult to identify and evaluate Barbelo’s meaning and functions. Accordingly, the aim of the Bachelor’s thesis is to clarify the meaning and functions of Barbelo, specifically in the theology of the Apocryphon of John. To reach this aim, the author will research traditions which influenced Sethian theology. After that Barbelo will be compared with similar figures from the traditions which influenced Sethian theology. The results of research carried out in this paper confirm the proposed thesis (Barbelo is an active creator and mediator between God and the world), and the meaning and functions of Barbelo in Sethian theology have become clearer.
