Right to education grants individual with control over the direction of his life, also it is necessary for the realization of other individuals’ basic rights. Regarding the importance of the education the aim of thesis is to explore genesis and evolution of the right to education.
The historical analysis begins with ancient Greece and ancient Rome and ends with a right to education as a constitutional right before the World War II.
In the thesis there is concluded that basis of the right to education as well as basis of the natural law concept can be found in works of antique philosophers, where education is inextricably linked not merely with development of individual, its judgment, intelligence and moral cultivation, but also the stability, prosperity and growth of the state.
