Saulgrieži 17. – 19. gadsimta latviešu sprediķos

Abstract

Maģistra darbā „Saulgrieži 17. – 19.gadsimta latviešu sprediķos” aplūkota solārā kulta nozīme latviešu kultūrā, solārā kulta kulminācijas – vasaras saulgriežu svinēšanas tradīcijas, vasaras saulgriežu nozīme kristīgajā reliģijā, 17. – 19.gadsimta baznīcas vēsture Latvijā un sprediķu kā reliģiskās literatūras žanra attīstība šajā laika posmā, kā arī analizēti 17. – 19.gadsimta latviešu luterāņu sprediķu grāmatās publicētie sprediķi Jāņa (Jāņa Kristītāja) dienā, pievēršot uzmanību tam, vai tajos tiek atspoguļotas vasaras saulgriežu tradīcijas un kā tradīcijas tiek atspoguļotas, kāda un kāpēc ir sprediķa autora attieksme pret šīm tradīcijām un latviešu folkloru kopumā. Sprediķu analīzē pastiprināta uzmanība pievērsta laikmetam, kurā tie tapuši, un to autora personībai, attieksmei pret kristietību un latviešiem.

This Master’s paper with a title “Solstice in 17th - 19th century Latvian Sermons” deals with the analysis of the significance of the Sun cult in Latvian culture, the peak of the Sun cult– the traditions of Solstice festivals, the meaning of Solstice in Christian religion, the history of Christian Church in Latvia as well as the development of the sermon and religious writings genre during the period of time in question. The main aim of this paper is to analyze sermons of the day of John (John the Baptist) published during 17th – 19th centuries in Latvian Lutheran books of sermons, focusing on the fact whether descriptions of Solstice traditions are included in these books; how the respective traditions are reflected and what is the sermon author’s attitude towards these traditions and Latvian folklore in general. In the analysis of sermons great attention has been paid towards the historical period of the creation of the sermons and the personality of their authors as well as their attitude towards Christianity and Latvians.
