Abstract
The goal of the present research is to investigate the inclusion of new headwords related to Covid-19 pandemics in online English dictionaries as well as to determine and analyse their types, word classes, stylistic characterization, meaning and the word formation patterns applied. To reach the goal, the literature review has been conducted as well as both qualitative and quantitative research methods in the empirical part have been used. The research findings suggest that all the investigated headwords were frequently used in the English corpus before they were introduced in online dictionaries; the majority of headwords were new coinages created via compounding, affixation and abbreviation, which represent abstract nouns of both literary and colloquial vocabulary, which conveyed mostly either neutral or negative connotation. Thus, new headwords related to Covid-19 were introduced in online English dictionaries due to high relevance and a widespread use during the pandemics.
