Abstract
The topic of the Bachelor's thesis is “Professional burnout among caregivers”. The aim of the thesis is to explore the phenomenon of professional burnout in the work of caregivers at a social care center. To achieve this, factors contributing to burnout and the impact of burnout on caregivers’ work and their relationships with the individuals they care for were analyzed. The theoretical framework of the thesis is based on Christina Maslach’s multidimensional theory of burnout and William J. Goode’s role strain theory. A literature review was conducted on the concept of burnout, its manifestations, and influencing factors, as well as an empirical study using semi-structured interviews. Caregivers working in a social care center participated in the interviews, and their experiences were analyzed using thematic analysis. The thesis concludes that caregivers experience significant emotional exhaustion. Professional burnout is closely related to insufficient emotional support, low remuneration, and high workload.
