Abstract
The author of the bachelor thesis "Supporting preschool teachers in music lessons for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the 2nd age group" is Laura Medne, a practicing assistant applied behaviour analyst. The main problem of the study is the lack of competence of pre-school teachers about Autism Spectrum Disorders (hereafter - ASD) and the lack of support in working with children with ASD. The aim of the work is to gain theoretical knowledge about the characteristics of AST children in the 2nd age group and their involvement in music lessons in pre-school, as well as to identify Latvian laws and regulations on inclusive education in general education institutions. The work was based on literature from several authors on whose findings the study is based. The main ones are: Oksena J., Sollavar R., Landrat E., and Tūbele S. Based on the theoretical findings, an empirical study on the inclusion of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in music lessons at age 2 was conducted, and using research methods such as focus group interview, survey and pedagogical observation, recommendations for preschool teachers in music lessons for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder at age 2 were developed. The author concludes that if teachers are provided with support, including materials and techniques for controlling the child's behaviour and how to integrate the child more successfully into the daily routine, children with Autism Spectrum Disorder can be successfully included in music lessons. The author's hypothesis was confirmed. The bachelor thesis consists of 75 pages, 23 figures, 4 tables, 8 appendices, and 77 items are the list of references and sources, of which 34 items are in a foreign language. Keywords: autism spectrum disorders, inclusive education, music lessons.
