Abstract

Android ir visstraujāk augošā viedtālruņu platforma pasaulē, kas nesen ieguva arī tirgus līdera pozīciju pārdoto telefonu skaita ziņā. Līdz ar platformas popularitāti aug arī izstrādātāju interese par to. Lietotņu skaits Android Market programmatūras veikalā ir sasniedzis jau 200 000. Lietotnes, kas izmanto kartes, ir ļoti populāras Android Market, taču līdz pat nesenam laikam izstrādātājiem, kas vēlējās izmantot kartes savās lietotnēs, vienīgā nopietnā izvēle bija Google kartes. Līdz ar Bing karšu Android programmatūras izstrādātāja rīkkopas beta versijas iznākšanu 2011. gada martā, Microsoft Bing kartes kļuva par vērā ņemamu alternatīvu. Šajā darbā ir salīdzināta Google un Bing karšu piedāvāto pakalpojumu kvalitāte uz Android platformas. Darbā ir apskatīts lietotņu izstrādes process, izmantojot Android izstrādes rīkus un Bing karšu rīkkopu. Darba ietvaros tika izveidota MapToDo lietotne, kas apvieno kartes funkcionalitāti ar uzdevumu sarakstu, un demonstrē Bing karšu iespējas, izmantojot GPS lokācijas, ģeokodēšanas un ceļa meklēšanas pakalpojumus. Darba rezultātā parādīts, kā iespējams izveidot Android lietotni ar Bing karšu funkcionalitāti.

The Android platform is the fastest growing smartphone platform in the world, and recently also became the market leader. As the Android platform grows, the developer interest in it also increases. The number of applications in the Android Market software store has reached 200 000. All kinds of map using application are very popular in Android Market, but until recently, the only serious choice for developers who wanted to use maps in their applications was Google Maps. With the Bing Maps Android SDK beta release in March 2011, Microsoft Bing Maps emerged as an alternative. In this paper the quality of service is compared for Google and Bing Maps for the Android platform. The application development process using Bing Maps Android is also shown in this paper. To demonstrate the capabilities of Bing maps in Android, the MapToDo app was created. It combines the functionality of maps and todo list and shows the features of Bing Maps, such as GPS location, geocoding and route finding. This paper shows how you can create an Android app with Bing Maps functionality.
