Abstract
The involvement of parents in professional sports education is an important factor for children and young people to feel the necessary support and care for their physical and mental health and development. The master's thesis is designed to find out what kind of parental involvement exists, how it should be desired, and how parental involvement is seen and felt by children. The aim of the Master's thesis "Parental involvement in promoting children's achievements in professional sports education programs" is to explore parents' involvement in promoting children's achievements in professional sports education programs. The author of the work is Kristīne Ludiņa – Jākobsone. The supervisor is assoc. professor Dr. paed. Sanita Baranova. The descriptive method is used in the research - content analysis of literature and regulatory acts, using the latest available scientific publications. Empirical research can be characterized as a descriptive triangulation mixed research in which the author substantiates her research findings with data analysis. Questionnaires of students and parents and interviews with coaches were used as data collection methods. As a result of the study, it was concluded that there are several factors that influence parental involvement. On the other hand, future studies would need to evaluate achievements in dynamics with a specific type of parental involvement.
