Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between work-life balance, altruistic workplace behavior, and occupational burnout, as well as to identify differences across age and gender groups. The study involved 263 employed adults aged 19 to 72 (195 women and 68 men). Three standardized questionnaires were used: the Short Work-Life Balance Scale (TKS-WLB), the Maslach Burnout Inventory – General Survey (MBI–GS), and the Organizational Citizenship Behavior Scale (altruism subscale). The results indicate that better work-life balance is significantly negatively associated with emotional exhaustion and cynicism, and positively associated with professional efficacy. Altruism was found to correlate negatively with cynicism and positively with professional efficacy, but showed no significant relationship with emotional exhaustion. The analysis also revealed notable gender and age differences: women reported higher levels of emotional exhaustion, cynicism was more pronounced in the middle-aged group, while older participants demonstrated higher levels of work-life balance.
