Abstract
In this Bachelor’s Thesis it is intended to gather scientific literature on social comparison, self-presentation and self-esteem in the context of social media and to assess the relationship between those constructs. A study was conducted to assess whether there is a negative relationship between self-esteem and upward social comparison as well as positive self-presentation and self-esteem, and positive relationship between positive self-presentation and upward social comparison as well as honest self presentation and self-esteem. The study involved 98 respondents who filled in online questionnaires that included questions from the Rosenberg self-esteem scale (Rosenberg, 1965), Social comparison in Facebook scale (created in the context of this Bachelor’s Thesis), Positive self-presentation & Honest self-presentation scales (in the context of Facebook) (Kim & Lee, 2011). There were significant and non-significant correlations between mentioned constructs.
