Dūlas loma dzemdību procesā

Abstract

Dūlu iesaiste dzemdību aprūpē ir nesens jauninājums Latvijā. Šī pētījuma „Dūlas loma dzemdību procesā” mērķis ir noskaidrot, kāda ir dūlas loma dzemdību procesā un skatījums uz dzemdībām, kā arī kādu aprūpes veidu dūlas izmanto un kā tas ietekmē pastāvošo dzemdību praksi kopumā. Pētījuma rezultāti balstās daļēji strukturēto interviju un līdzdalīgā novērojuma laikā iegūto datu analīzē. Pētījumā secināts, ka dūlas lieto holistisko medicīnas pieeju dzemdībām. Dūla sniedz dzemdētājai emocionālo atbalstu, kā arī dūla sagatavo un informē sievieti par dzemdību norisi, veicinot sievietes spējas pašai kontrolēt dzemdību procesu. Dūlas ar holistiskas medicīnas pieeju dzemdībām, humanizē tehnokrātiskās dzemdības slimnīcā. Dūlas sadarbojas ar medicīnas personālu un papildina pastāvošo dzemdību praksi ar alternatīvām metodēm un atbalsta veidiem.

In Latvia, the participation of doulas in maternity care is a recent innovation. The aim of this research named ‘The role of Doula during labour’ is to find out the role of the doula during labour and her viewpoint of labour as well as what methods of care do doulas use and how does their work affect the existing practice of labour. Results of this research are based on analysed data collected via semi-structured interviews and participant observation. This research concludes that doulas approach to labour is from a holistic medical model standpoint. A doula gives an emotional support to a woman in labour, prepares and informs her of the procedures of labour, there for contributing to women’s ability to control the process of her labour. Doulas humanise the technocratic labour by approaching it through a holistic medical model. Doulas collaborate with medical personnel and complement the existing practice of labour with alternative methods and support.
