Abstract
Outdoor activities are an effective and engaging way to connect the topics learned in the curriculum with everyday life. The bachelor’s thesis was developed to explore the possibilities of outdoor learning activities in mathematics and compile methodological recommendations to make these activities more effective and capable of providing students with all the benefits associated with them. The author of the thesis developed methodological materials with the aim of encouraging teachers at Rīgas 45. Vidusskola to use the extracurricular learning method in their lessons. Three lesson plans were created for three different topics in the 6th grade mathematics, and methodological recommendations were developed to be considered when organizing outdoor learning activities. Within the framework of the work, it was found that outdoor learning activities positively influence students’ knowledge, but potential risks were observed that may hinder the effective organization of outdoor learning activities. As a result, methodological recommendations were developed to reduce the occurrence of these risks.
