Abstract
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to investigate the relationship between the frequency of pornography use and satisfaction with romantic relationships. The hypothesis put forward in the study is that people who use pornography more often are less satisfied with their relationships. The research question I raised aimed to find out what gender differences there are in the frequency of pornography use and satisfaction with relationships. The second research question raised is whether the frequency of pornography use and relationship satisfaction are related to age, cohabitation with a partner and relationship duration. 131 respondents participated in the study. Important conditions for participation in the study were that the respondent was over 20 years of age, as well as currently was in a romantic relationship for at least a year. The study used two surveys. The “Frequency of Use Subscale” (Szymanski & Stewart-Richardson, 2014) was used to measure the frequency of pornography use. The “marital satisfaction survey” (Hudson‚ 1997) was used to determine the respondent’s satisfaction with their relationship. The study found that the hypothesis was not met, and there was no statistically significant relationship between frequency of pornography use and relationship satisfaction. In response to the research question, it was found that men use pornography more often, while there were no statistically significant differences in relationship satisfaction. Living together and age were not associated with frequency of pornography use and relationship satisfaction. Higher relationship duration was associated with lower relationship satisfaction, but not with frequency of pornography use. Keywords: frequency of pornography use, relationship satisfaction
