Abstract
Anotācija.
Promocijas darbs veltīts 9. – 13. gs. izplatīto divasmeņu zobenu un to sastāvdaļu
tipohronoloģiskai analīzei, zobenu un to piederumu izgatavošanas un lietojuma tradīciju
izpētei, balstoties uz Latvijas arheoloģisko materiālu. Tēmas izpēte ļāvusi precizēt to šo
ieroču izplatību un hronoloģiju, izstrādāt atradumu klasifikāciju un precizēt
hronoloģiju. Veikta zobenu rokturu formu, asmeņu, ierakstu, makstu uzgaļu,
izgatavošanas tehnoloģiju un lietojuma izpēte. Divasmeņu zobeni promocijas darbā
parādīti kā būtiska vietējo maztautu karotāju bruņojuma sastāvdaļa, atspoguļota to vieta
vietējās apbedīšanas tradīcijās kā karotāju, tirgotāju un sabiedrības virsslāņa atribūts.

Annotation. The thesis deals with double-deged swords of 9th - 13. century and its components typochronological analysis, investigation of swords and accessories manufacture and research of traditional use of this weapon, reflected in the Latvian archaeological material. Topics studied allowed to clarify the distribution of swords and their chronology, to develop a classification of the findings and to clarify the chronology. A sword handles, blade, inscriptions, scabbard chapes, manufacturing technology research was undertaken. Double edged swords appear as an important part of the armament of local warriors, its reflected as a significant artefact type in local burial customs, it appears as a significant atribute of status and wealth of warrior elite, traders and the upper layer of society during 9.-13. centuries.
