Abstract
Bakalaura darbā atspoguļota ķērpju kā bioindikatoru nozīme un to izmantošanas iespējas gaisa piesārņojuma pētījumos. Tika noteikta un raksturota ķērpju sugu daudzveidība Limbažu pilsētā. Pētījumi tika veikti, izmantojot divas lihenoindikācijas metodes, pēc Gaisa Tīrības Indeksa un piecām ķērpju indikātorsugām. Pamatojoties uz šiem rezultātiem, katrai metodei tika sastādīta ķērpju zonu karte, kas atspoguļo gaisa piesārņojuma izplatības tendences. Abu metožu rezultāti tika salīdzināti savā starpā. Gaisa Tīrības Indeksa rezultāti tika salīdzināti ar Ziemeļvidzemes biosfēras rezervāta 1993. gadā veiktajiem lihenoindikācijas pētījumiem Limbažu pilsētā.

Have been identified and described the lichen species diversity in Limbaži city. The lihenoindication survey was performed using the Index of Atmospheric Purity and the method of five lichen indicator species. The lichen zone maps were made, based on results of each method, which reflected the distribution trends of air pollution. The results of both methods were compared with each other. The results of Index of Atmospheric Purity are compared to the lichenoindication survery of Limbazi city done by Northen Vidzeme Biosphere Reservation in 1993.
