Bibliotekāra darbam nepieciešamās kompetences publiskajās bibliotēkās

Abstract

Pētījums “Bibliotekāra darbam nepieciešamās kompetences publiskajās bibliotēkās” veikts ar mērķi noskaidrot nozīmīgākās bibliotekāru kompetences pašvaldību publiskajās bibliotēkās un apzināt, kuru kompetenču pilnveide ir nepieciešama. Maģistra darba teorētisko pamatojumu veido pragmatisms, cilvēkkapitāla teorija un Šeilas Korallas „Profesionālās kompetences modelis bibliotēku un informācijas jomā”. Pētījumā tiek izmantota jaukta tipa stratēģija, izmantojot gan kvantitatīvās, gan kvalitatīvās datu iegūšanas metodes. Rezultāti atklāj, ka bibliotekāra darbam nepieciešamā kompetenču kopuma pamatā ir gan profesionālās zināšanas un prasmes, gan personiskās rakstura īpašības. Bibliotekāriem ir jāspēj pielāgoties pārmaiņām un jāattīsta kompetences, kuras ir saistītas ar informācijas un komunikācijas tehnoloģijām.

The research “Competencies for Librarians in Public Libraries” was conducted with the aim of identifying the most important librarian competencies in municipal public libraries and identifying which competencies needed to be developed. The theoretical basis of the master's thesis consists of pragmatism, human capital theory and Sheila Corrall’s „Model of Professional competence for the Library and Information field”. A combined strategy with qualitative and quantitative research methods has been used for the research. The results reveal that the competencies required for the work of a librarian are based on both professional knowledge and skills, and personal characteristics. Librarians need to be able to adapt to change and develop competencies that are related to information and communication technologies.
