Abstract
Topic of the Bachelor’s Thesis: Expanding children's vocabulary in pre-school education, stage 1, through play. Author: Agnese Jančone. Aim of the work: theoretically analyse and empirically test the expansion of children's vocabulary in pre-primary education stage 1 through play. The qualification work consists of two parts: theoretical and empirical research. The theoretical part analysed the scientific literature on child language development at the 1st age. The interpretation of the concepts of language, speech and vocabulary was analysed, the characteristics of language acquisition at the age of 1.5-2 years were described and the achievable results in vocabulary expansion were explored. The opinions of various authors on the possibilities of vocabulary acquisition in the pedagogical process in pre-school are analysed, as well as the use of play to extend vocabulary. In the empirical part of the work, the initial observation according to the pre-developed criteria, the pedagogical pilot activity and the repeated observation were carried out, the data obtained were processed and analysed. The results of the study show that the regular use of games in the pedagogical process significantly contributes to the expansion of children's vocabulary and improves their communication skills. The study points to the need for educators to be aware of the importance of play and to use it as an effective method for promoting language development in preschool children. Keywords: language, speech, vocabulary, development, play, pedagogical process. Qualification work: 46 pages, 8 figures, 4 tables, 4 annexes, 36 references.
